General information about the introduction of EUR as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia

On January 1, 2023, the euro becomes the official currency in the Republic of Croatia.

At the session held on July 12, 2022, the Council of the European Union adopted the Decision on the acceptance of the euro in Croatia from January 1, 2023, and the Regulation establishing the fixed conversion rate of kuna to euro, which amounts to: 1 euro = 7.53450 kuna.

In the period from September 5, 2022 to December 31, 2023 prices for consumers will be expressed dually, in kunas and euros, with the use of the official conversion rate and the application of rounding rules in accordance with the Act on the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia (Official Gazette 57/2022), which means that the conversion will be carried out using the full numerical value of the amount of the fixed conversion rate and round the resulting amount to two decimal places in accordance with the prescribed rounding rules.

The process of introducing the euro will not affect the validity of existing legal instruments (contracts, invoices, etc.) in which the HRK is specified, and the conversion of prices and other monetary statements will be carried out free of charge, in accordance with the specified conversion rules.
